Since the evacuation of the northern settlements in October 2023, Hadar Saifan has made several nocturnal car rides on the roads near the Israel-Lebanon border, on routes threatened by gunfire around the evacuated settlements and in the non-evacuated confrontation line settlements, and photographed their surroundings. Nothing is visible in her photographs except darkness, and the only signs of life in the isolated settlements are the lights along the security roads that surround them—except that this peripheral lighting, intended to protect the settlement, concurrently highlights it to the enemy.
